Online and in-person training events delivered by experienced physicians, ranging from suturing and phlebotomy to airway management.
With over 40 years of expertise in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Anton Scheepers founded The Apprentice Doctor® brand to nurture the next generation of healthcare professionals.
His specialty focuses on diagnosing and treating a broad range of conditions affecting the face, jaw, and the hard and soft tissues of the head and neck.
Driven by a passion for medical education, Dr. Anton has organized and co-hosted educational programs across the world. He is a sought-after lecturer at premedical and medical-skills conferences and a gifted presenter whose career spans medical sciences, surgery, and dentistry — across academic, public, military, and private practice settings.
He founded the medical-sciences section of the largest science center in Africa, the Sci-Bono Discovery Centre, and has collaborated on medical research with Dr. Sandy Marks Jr. of the University of Massachusetts.
The Apprentice Doctor® concept was born in 2002 when Dr. Anton Scheepers set out to give aspiring doctors a real glimpse into the field of medicine.
The idea was deceptively simple: combine an online course with a hands-on simulation kit, so students could learn the theory and practice the technique in their own time.
The first release was the Junior Apprentice Doctor® "How to Examine Patients" Course and Kit. After several upgrades, it lives on today as the For Future Doctors Simulation Kit, paired with the Foundation Medical Course on the Apprentice Doctor® Academy — now an accredited pre-medical course for U.S. high schoolers.
Each Apprentice Doctor® course is paired with a matching practice kit — a complete simulation lab, in a box, that turns a study session into a skill.
An accredited pre-medical program for high school students exploring a career in medicine.
Master surgical suturing technique, paired with three kit tiers for every level.
Practice safe blood draws and IV access on a realistic simulator arm.
Learn life-saving hemorrhage-control techniques, including tourniquet application.
Hands-on practice in reducing and stabilizing common fractures.
A simulation lab in a box — with clear instructions — has proven to be a welcome alternative to learning clinical skills directly on patients, and the model has been embraced by medical educators worldwide.
The Apprentice Doctor® works alongside a network of professionals and organizations who share our commitment to medical education.
