An Unforgettable Hands-on Lesson by Dr Anton Himself
I have been visiting middle and high schools to meet some young apprentice doctors and to promote careers in Medicine...
Some of the things we cover...
- We discuss your choice of careers in Medicine
- We perform a number of key medical skills and discover when and where to apply those skills
- We discuss and learn about normal and abnormal heart sounds
- We learn how to measure the heart rate and blood pressure
- We determine the blood oxygen saturation using a pulse oximeter, and discuss how this infomation is used
- We practice closing an incision after a surgery using one of the students' dogs or cats. No just kidding, we have a 3-layer imitation skin for that purpose.
Short and sweet for November. All the best for Christmas and enjoy the holidays. I'll still send you a letter for December.
